Mixed reactions as residents, athletes arrive for National Sports Festival
Residents anticipate the 22nd National Sports Festival.
Known for his energetic dancing, Governor Adeleke took to the stage during the ceremony, especially when his Nephew Davido was performing.
Davido performed as the guest artist at the opening ceremony of the 22nd National Sports Festival held at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta on Sunday evening.
His performance quickly became a highlight of the evening, drawing cheers and applause from spectators.
Governor Adeleke's enthusiasm for dance has been a hallmark of his public appearances, often using it as a means to connect with the youth and promote cultural expression.
Adeleke attended the opening ceremony alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and other governors.
Meanwhile, the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olapade, highlighted core values such as love, focus, discipline, and unity as the essence of the Sports Festival.
He said, “Let medals be won with honour, not by crook. We are where we are today, revamping, reshaping and resetting our Sports ecosystem because of the vision of Mr President, the father of the country. He is the reason why the National Sports Festival is now wearing a new look of world-class standard, and we will continue to thank him".
The National Sports Festival, established in 1973, serves as a platform to promote unity and athletic excellence across Nigeria.
