After 23 seasons, Tom Brady has decided to end his NFL career

Tom Brady arguably the greatest NFL player of all time has stepped away from the sport.

The seven-time Super Bowl winner announced his retirement through his official social media platforms on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.

Brady posted a video to announce his retirement, explaining that this is for the final time.

Along with the video was a message that said, "I love my family. I love my teammates. I love my friends. I love my coaches. I love football. I love you all

"I am truly grateful on this day. Thank you"

This comes one year after Brady initially announced his retirement from the statement that read in part, “I have always believed the sport of football is an ‘all-in’ proposition—if a 100% competitive commitment isn't there, you won't succeed, and success is what I love so much about our game.

“There is a physical, mental, and emotional challenge EVERY single day that has allowed me to maximize my highest potential. 

“And I have tried my very best these past 22 years. There are no shortcuts to success on the field or in life.

“This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore.

“I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention.”

Tom Brady retires again

Brady the 199th pick in round six of the 2000 NFL Draft came back after his initial statement to play for one more year.

Despite an up-and-down season with an 8-9 record, Brady willed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the playoffs.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were however eliminated at home by the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football Conference playoffs' first round.

Brady was the backbone of the New England Patriots franchise from 2000 until 2019 leading the team from the quarterback role.

Brady won six Super Bowl titles four Super Bowl MVPs, and three NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards during his time with the Patriots. 

After the first season he left the Patriots, Brady made history to win his seventh NFL title with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He led them to the title on home turf and was named Super Bowl MVP.

Brady With seven Super Bowl titles leaves arguably the best player in NFL history and becomes Hall of Fame eligible beginning in the year 2028.
