Wrexham vs MK Dons: Fans troll Hollywood Dragons after 'reality check' loss to Dons

Wrexham returned to League Two for the first time in 15 seasons but it ended in a smashing home defeat to MK Dons.

Jonathan Leko was the tormentor-in-chief as MK Dons welcomed Wrexham back to League Two with a baptism of fire. 

A Leko-inspired Dons came, saw and thrashed their hosts Wrexham following an eight-goal thriller in their backyard at Stok Cae on Saturday.

Dons earned a 5-3 win over the Red Dragons to hand the home side a crushing return to League Two after over a decade.

Wrexham served a hostile return

In what was their first game in the division in 15 years, the Red Dragons went into the game in a confident mood backed by their Hollywood owners.

However, after 90 minutes of action, it was Dons who ran away with a heavy victory inspired by Leko. 

The forward scored a brace and assisted another of the five goals scored by the visitors. 

Jonathan Leko was unplayable against the Reds.

Wrexham started on a very poor note, conceding two goals in the opening 10 minutes as Dons looked comfortable and ruthless. 

Jacob Mendy pulled one back to give the Reds a fighting chance heading into the break.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson clearly not happy.

But the Dragons conceded another early goal in the second half as Leko restored the two-goal cushion before he made it 4-1 with his second just after the hour mark. 

Jordan Davies pulled another back for Wrexham, who went on to concede a fifth in added time while Anthony Forde pulled back a third goal to make the scoreline look respectable.

Following the defeat, football fans reacted to the heaving defeat by trolling the newly promoted side on social media.
