World Cup winner hails Díaz signing, cliams he will provide Bayern with numerous attacking options
Diaz has completed his move from Liverpool to Bayern Munich after the Reds accepted close to 70 million for the winger.
The Colombian international has arrived in Germany to undergo his medical examination and sign his contract with last season's Bundesliga champions.
What Matthäus said
"With the departures of Thomas Müller and Leroy Sané, as well as Jamal Musiala's serious injury, Bayern needed a quality attacking player.
"Luis Díaz has proven his class in the Premier League. He's fast and strong in challenges," Matthäus said, as reported by Sportal.
"He will give Bayern more attacking options. At Liverpool, he played as a left winger, attacking midfielder, and second striker.
"At Bayern, he could play behind Harry Kane, similar to Serge Gnabry or Michael Olise. If Díaz costs €75 million, he needs to be a starter," the German legend emphasised.
"Luis Díaz is already 28, while Nick Woltemade is only 23. If the club is paying €75 million for a player five years older, they clearly have no doubts about his quality," Matthäus added.
