CAF hands Nigeria a slight advantage

While the Super Eagles still need to overcome Gabon, the three-time African champions will have a slight advantage if they get to the final, as they will play in the same venue as their semifinal clash.

Nigeria take on Gabon at Complexe Sportif Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan, the same venue that will host the final.

Should Nigeria beat Gabon, they will not have to travel for the final and will also be familiar with the ground, giving them a slight advantage over Cameroon or DR Congo.

Also, the Super Eagles’ semifinal clash against the Panthers is the first semifinal, giving them more time to recover ahead of Cameroon or DR Congo, who play later that night.

Should Nigeria win the CAF mini-playoffs, they will progress to the intercontinental playoffs, with the winner of that one-legged encounter progressing to next year’s World Cup in the United States of America, Mexico and Canada.
