Paul Onuachu scored the winning goal in the 87th minute after Aribo’s strike was pegged back by Liam Delap just after the half-hour mark.

The midfield man highlighted the importance of the team's collective effort and their determination to fight for each other to secure Ivan Juric’s first Premier League win since replacing Russell Martin.

"For us it's an amazing feeling," said Aribo. "Really important for us to get that result. We knew how big that game was and we had to fight and you saw us fighting and it was just amazing to get that result.

"I think it just shows the character of the boys, how together we are, how much we're willing to fight for each other. You know, we can't do this individually, we've got to fight together and that's all you have to do in the upcoming games.”

The win was a much-needed boost for Southampton, who have been struggling in the Premier League this season, with success cutting the deficit from Ipswich to eight points.
