Where’s Osimhen? Super Eagles star loses chance to extend record vs 20-year-old Nigerian brother

Nigerian and Super Eagles sensation, Victor Osimhen, who has been instrumental in Galatasaray’s record-breaking 2024/2025 season, appears to have played his last game for the Turkish champions this term.

The club has confirmed that Osimhen will not feature in their upcoming penultimate Super Lig match against Goztepe on Saturday.

Galatasaray, having already secured the league title and Turkish Cup double, have opted to rest Osimhen along with other key players to preserve fitness and give younger squad members a chance.

The 26-year-old striker, who finished the season with a staggering 36 goals in 40 appearances, breaking the club record for most goals by a foreign player in a single season, will watch from the sidelines as a youthful Galatasaray side travels to face Goztepe.

Leading the squad in Osimhen’s absence will be former Real Madrid forward Álvaro Morata, joined by experienced players like Dries Mertens and Davidson Sánchez.

The 22-man squad, announced on the club’s social media, notably excludes Osimhen but includes other key contributors as the team approaches the final fixtures of the season.
