Manchester United's ex-captain admits that the team has put it's fans through a very tough time this season
Harry Maguire has expressed his shock at the unwavering support Manchester United fans have shown during what has been one of the club’s most painful Premier League campaigns in decades.
With the Europa League final looming amidst a dreadful overall season, Maguire says it’s time to repay that loyalty with silverware.

In a brutally honest reflection, Maguire admitted he was “surprised” that supporters have stuck by the team despite 18 league defeats and a possible 17th-place finish, their worst since 1974.

Speaking ahead of the Europa League final, Maguire said, "[The fans] been absolutely incredible this season, it is surprising to us players how much they are backing us.
"We've disappointed them far too much. We've given them some good times in the Europa League and some great memories in terms of winning the derby at the Etihad and things, but it's even surprised me.
"It's been remarkable when we get to play in front of them, even though we're not performing,” Maguire added.
Maguire hoping to repay fans’ faith
With a Europa League final against Tottenham ahead, the defender is determined to give those loyal followers a reason to celebrate.
The former Manchester United captain said, "That's why I think they deserve it [The Europa League title]. We have a great opportunity to go and win the cup final and give them that day out. It's only a good day out if we come back and win the tournament."

While the Premier League has been a nightmare, including a club-record eight-game winless streak and only six league wins under Ruben Amorim, the Europa League has offered a rare bright spot.
Wednesday’s final in Bilbao marks United’s ninth European final, and thousands of fans are set to travel despite the domestic gloom. A victory would not only bring a trophy but also secure Champions League football, offering a lifeline for the club’s battered reputation.
