Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl is confident that Jamie Gittens will stay “professional” amid ongoing transfer talk linking him with Chelsea.
The Blues had a £42m bid for the winger rejected before the Club World Cup and are set to make an improved offer, with personal terms already agreed with the 20-year-old.
Dortmund, however, value Gittens at around £50m as the second summer transfer window opens.
Kehl emphasized keeping Gittens focused on the Club World Cup, where he came off the bench in Dortmund’s opener against Fluminense.
“We’ve had one or two conversations with Jamie in the last few days,” Kehl said. “He’s professional enough to know he has to perform.
"That’s also in his nature. Jamie will still be very important for us in this tournament. We’ll see what happens after that.”
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is desperately chasing reinforcements in attack following the departure of Jadon Sancho.
