Super Eagles of Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has revealed the areas his team must work on after the 1-1 draw against Russia on Friday night.

Eric Chelle has addressed the need for improvement in one key area following Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Russia in an international friendly at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium on Friday.

Chelle’s side fell behind in the 27th minute when centre-back Semi Ajayi scored an own goal, handing Russia the lead.

However, substitute Tolu Arokodare leveled the score in the 71st minute, securing a draw for Nigeria.

It was a performance full of grit and hard work, against a Russia team with an enviable home record.

In his post-match interview, Chelle emphasized the need for his team to handle pressure better, a recurring issue observed in Nigeria’s last three matches against Ghana, Jamaica, and Russia.

“We will make changes, we will work on playing under pressure, because this problem has already arisen in the last three matches,” Chelle stated.

“We need to learn to cope with the opponent’s pressing – this was especially noticeable in the second half, when we were practically left without the ball. This is thanks to the Russian footballers.”

Chelle will now look to make important changes and adjust specifics ahead of the Super Eagles' must-win qualifier against Rwanda in September.
