Victor Osimhen, one of European football's top stars, will be the subject of a competition between Newcastle and Manchester United.

The Nigerian forward had a remarkable season with Napoli, helping them win their first Scudetto in 30 years.

The Napoli striker is the current top scorer in Serie A with 25 league goals this season and has been influential in their progress last campaign.

He has been linked with a possible transfer with Manchester United looking to sign him. However, according to recent reports, Newcastle are going to challenge United for his signature.

Newcastle looks to hijack Osimhen

Newcastle are currently in the transfer market for a striker and has identified Victor Osimhen as their new target in the summer.

After securing a spot in the Champions League for the upcoming season, Newcastle United are prepared to fight in the summer transfer market for the top players in Europe.

The club is expected to receive a huge sum of more than £100 million as a result of their fourth-place finish, and manager Eddie Howe has learned that this will significantly improve his summer investment ambitions.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from Italy and Newcastle United are going to battle it out with Man United for his signature.

Napoli signed Osimhen for Lille for a sum of £70 million and will be looking to sell him for twice the amount he was bought.

Newcastle in contact with Osimhen’s agent

Newcastle have stepped up their chase for Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen after making contact with his agent for a possible transfer.

Despite the Serie A champions' insistence that they want to keep their prized asset, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Magpies have been in touch with the Nigerian player's agent.

Newcastle, who have qualified for next season’s Champions League are looking to price Osimhen from Napoli. The forward is seen as an important asset to Napoli and any potential deal will probably cost at least £130 million.

Osimhen's signing would represent a significant declaration of intent for the club's quest for big trophies next season.
