Unleashing the beast: Arteta confirms Gyokeres could debut in the derby against Tottenham
The Gunners recently completed the signing of Gyokeres for a fee worth €63.5 million plus €10 million in potential add-ons.
The forward joined his teammates for the preseason friendly and has trained with the players ahead of their clash against Tottenham.
The two North London rivals face each other in Hong Kong tomorrow in the first edition of this derby to be held outside the UK.
What Arteta said
Asked whether there was a chance Rice could debut in the match, despite only having trained with Arsenal since yesterday following his transfer from West Ham, Arteta replied, via Sportal, "He only completed a full training session today, and yesterday he only participated briefly.
"We'll assess how he is this evening, and if the medical staff are satisfied with his condition and it allows him to play in tomorrow's match, then it's possible.
"We'll discuss it tonight. As for the rest, everyone should be okay, except Gabriel Magalhães, who won't train, and Ricardo Calafiori, for whom it's still a bit early."
"I am extremely pleased with how we have approached the transfer window and how aggressive we have been so far. There's still a long way to go. We are happy with what we have achieved, and we aim to remain very satisfied by the end of the window," the Spaniard added.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are not done with their signings in the transfer market, as they look to sign Eberechi Eze and have started negotiations with Crystal Palace for the forward.
