Several players with little game time were preferred in the clash against Bidco.

Ulinzi Stars assistant coach Vincent 'Moriero' Otieno has explained some of the changes in their lineup after key players were rested in the 3-0 away loss to Bidco United.

It was a game where the attack struggled in the absence of Hillary Simiyu and Boniface Muchiri, as other regulars also did not make the matchday squad.

After the match, Otieno explained some tactical tweaks he and the technical team made and why Lucas Maina, Mark Bikokwa, Elly Saenyi, and Peter Wafula made rare appearances on Monday.

"(Lucas) Maina did his best compared to the others who have not been regulars and he has a lot to offer to the team," Otieno told Pulse Sports.

"Muchiri and Simiyu got some knocks in our last game, which is why we saw it could be riskier if they took to the field."

The resting of key players could have been influenced by Ulinzi's next fixture, as they will face Tusker FC in the FKF Cup semi-finals on Saturday.

"I made many changes to my lineup because we have a very big game coming up this weekend and I also wanted to give other players a chance to showcase their talent," he added.

In the match against Bidco, the Soldiers soaked in the first goal in the 18th minute, and their defence was breached again in the 32nd minute by red-hot midfielder Samuel Ndung'u.

Former Ulinzi striker Ezekiel Okare added the third in the 68th minute, putting off Ulinzi's hopes of staging a comeback in the match played at Kasarani Annex.

Ulinzi Stars are currently eighth on the log with 44 points, having won in 11 matches and drawn the same number of games this season.
