Chelsea are reportedly on alert for a potential surprise transfer raid for a Liverpool player seemingly keen to leave Premier League champions.

Chelsea are reportedly monitoring the situation of Liverpool attacking midfielder Harvey Elliott, who could be available for transfer this summer.

As reported by Caught Offside, the 22-year-old, who has struggled for regular starts at Anfield, may be open to a move.

Liverpool are understood to be willing to sell Elliott if an offer of approximately £50 million is received for the England Under-21 international.

Premier League clubs keen on Elliott

Alongside Chelsea, other clubs showing interest include Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund.

However, Brighton have expressed the most concrete interest, identifying the Englishman as their top summer target and preparing a formal £40 million offer.

The report suggests that the Seagulls are confident they can guarantee Elliott regular playing time, and the presence of his former Liverpool teammate James Milner could also be a factor in facilitating a transfer.

While Chelsea are known for acquiring young talent, it remains uncertain if the Premier League champions will permit the attacking midfielder to join a direct top-four rival.

Additionally, playing time at Stamford Bridge might still be a concern for Elliott compared to Brighton's assurances, Caught Offside suggest.

What’s next for Chelsea?

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea will face Benfica in the Club World Cup last 16 on Saturday, seeking a place in the quarter-finals, where they could face Palmeiras or Botafogo.
