Former Chelsea captain John Terry has asked fans to be more patient with ex-blues midfielder Mason Mount who joined Manchester United this summer

Chelsea legend John Terry has come to the defence of former Blues midfielder Mason Mount after the England international faced backlash for his move to club rivals Manchester United

Mount leaves Chelsea for Manchester United

Mount started his career at Chelsea and became a fan favourite when he joined the Blues first team after 12 years in the club’s academy.

The 24-year-old midfielder was a crucial part of Chelsea’s team in his first few seasons and helped the Blues to the 2021 UEFA Champions League title after assisting the winning goal in the final.

However, the years following the UCL title have not been as successful for Mount or Chelsea, and the lifelong Blues fan decided the best move for his career was to join Manchester United this summer.

Terry comes to Mount’s defence

Mount’s move to the Red Devils caused an uproar among Chelsea fans, many of whom disowned the midfielder as one of their own for joining a rival of the Blues.

Terry recently addressed the backlash that Mount has received in recent weeks, saying that he believes there is another side to the midfielder’s decision to leave the Blues that would not be as aggravating to Chelsea fans.

The former Chelsea defender told Simon Phillips, “Mase is proper Chels through and though. There always two sides to a story, I know the other side to it.”

Terry however decided not to go into specifics saying, “I’m not going to air that now but there’s another side to the story. Let’s not be too harsh on Mason when he comes back.”

Mount has made a stuttering start to life at Manchester United after suffering an injury set back just weeks into the new season.
