Following his unsuccessful summer transfer, Chelsea star Marc Cucurella offered an unexpected update during the break for international play.

Cucurella had been a target for Erik ten Hag's team to take on loan, but when he played in the Carabao Cup victory against Wimbledon in the second round.

United shifted their attention to signing Sergio Reguilon after pulling out of the deal to sign Marc Cucurella.

The Chelsea defender has now given an update on several summer transfer moves that fell through.

Cucurella failed transfers

The 25-year-old has issued an update on his failed transfer after being left out of the Spain squad for their qualifiers.

According to Football London, on the final day of the transfer window, the 25-year-old turned down a move to West London rivals Fulham after a loan move to Manchester United fell through.

The Spanish defender also turned down offers from RB Leipzig, Real Sociedad, Atletico Madrid, and Sevilla to stay at Chelsea Bridge and compete for a starting spot.

A week after the deadline, Fabrizio Romano disclosed that Manchester City had made a "secret" offer to capture the 25-year-old on a loan agreement with a buy option that Chelsea had turned down in January.

Ben Chilwell is now without a doubt the starting left-back for Mauricio Pochettino's squad, and Cucurella is still determined to compete for a spot.

This season, Cucurella is yet to play in the Premier League; Ian Maatsen is thought of as Chilwell's backup.
