Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has joined the Nigeria squad in Morocco, completing the team’s camp ahead of the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs.
Star striker Victor Osimhen has finally joined the Super Eagles in Morocco, completing the initial assembly of the squad just hours before their make-or-break 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff semi-final against Gabon.
Osimhen’s arrival is a significant boost for the team, whose preparations have been marred by a player protest over unpaid bonuses and captain William Troost-Ekong’s need to debunk "special demands" claims.

An overlooked Super Eagles striker continues to shine in Europe, outperforming Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman with another standout display at the weekend.
Osimhen, Key Players Complete Squad
Concerns had been growing as five key players were initially missing from the training camp at the Rive Hotel in Rabat. However, the situation has now been largely resolved.
The latest update from the team's official channel confirmed that Osimhen (Galatasaray) and midfielder Alhassan Yusuf were among the last major arrivals.
Osimhen, who had rushed out following his club’s recent match in Turkey, has now transitioned his focus fully to the national assignment.
The full team, now assembled under Head Coach Eric Chelle, features prominent names who had arrived earlier, including:
Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi (Fulham)
Samuel Chukwueze (AC Milan)
Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City)
Zaidu Sanusi (Porto) and Frank Onyeka (Brentford)
While the team initially posted that "The boys are all in and are heading to training," a subsequent clarification indicated a slight technicality regarding one player:
“Maduka Okoye is being expected!”
Goalkeeper Okoye (Udinese) appears to be the final player yet to officially link up with the squad, despite posts suggesting he had announced his own arrival in Morocco via social media.
With all other key players now present, training intensity is expected to be at its highest, despite the loss of crucial preparation time due to Tuesday’s protest.
Two Games to the Intercontinental Playoff
Nigeria's focus must now shift entirely to their opponent, Gabon, in the do-or-die clash scheduled for Thursday, in Rabat.
The winner of this semi-final tie will advance to a final playoff match on November 16 against the winners of the other semi-final between Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Only the ultimate winner of that final will secure a spot in the Intercontinental Playoffs in March 2026, which offers the final opportunity to qualify for the World Cup co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
