“A disappointing and frustrating end,” Nwabali stated in a post moments after the heartbreak on his Instagram account.

"I deeply apologize to Nigerians. I was once a fan, still a fan and I understand how it feels giving you a disappointing night," the AFCON 2023 revelation added.

Despite praising fans for their support, a crestfallen Nwabali was left ruing a painful end to Nigeria's AFCON campaign. His outpouring of emotions underlined the deep sorrow after the Super Eagles agonizingly missed out on continental glory.

In what was a sad climax for Jose Peseiro and his men, Nwabali conceded more than one goal for the first time in the competition.

The Chippa United was Nigeria’s first choice goalkeeper in the 34th AFCON.
