Al-Nassr were deadlocked after finding a late equaliser against Shabab Al-Ahli when Talisca and Brozovic both scored in additional time to seal the victory.

How it happened

The Saudi Pro League side opened the scoring thanks to Talisca’s early finish after only 11 minutes of the match but were soon pegged back when Yahya Alghassani finished brilliantly at the back post to pull Al-Ahli level.

As Al-Nassr fought for another goal in the first half, they had two calls for penalties, both involving captain Cristiano Ronaldo, whose acrobatic effort came off the outstretched arms of an Al-Ahli defender before he was clearly impeded in a separate incident inside the penalty area.

Chinese referee FU Ming missed both penalty calls despite being perfectly placed to call them, and at half-time, he was confronted by an irate Cristiano Ronaldo, who screamed at him to “wake up” following the missed calls.

Alghassani was the bane of Al-Nassr on the night and put his side ahead of the Saudi Arabians one minute after the restart, causing a nightmare scenario for Al-Nassr who were on the verge of being knocked out of the AFC Champions League before the group stage.

The Saudi giants' blushes were spared thanks to three late goals, as Sultan Al-Ghannam equalised in the 88th minute to bring them back into the game.

With extra time beckoning, Talisca scored what proved to be the winner in the 94th minute, before Brozovic scored two minutes later to ensure safe passage for the Saudi Pro League side into the AFC Champions League Group stage
