Arsenal have been eliminated from the Carabao Cup after suffering a defeat against Newcastle at St. James Park.
The Gunners lost the first leg of the tie 2-0 a few weeks ago at the Emirate Stadium, which put them in a difficult position for the second leg.
They needed to overturn a two-goal deficit but instead conceded two more goals and lost 4-0 on aggregate.

We are disappointed — Arteta on failure to sign players
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta addressed their inactivity in the winter transfer window.
As it happened
Newcastle made two changes from the side that lost to Fulham at the weekend. Joelinton missed out through injury, with Sven Botman starting instead, while Arsenal remained unchanged from the side that whacked Manchester City 5-1.
It was not a good start for the Gunners, as they conceded the first goal from a rebound after Alexander Isak's strike hit the crossbar and Murphy slotted home into the empty net, taking the lead to the halftime break.
It all got worse entering the second half as a mistake from David Raya led to Newcastle's second goal scored by Antony Gordon.

Newcastle held on until the final whistle, with the defeat making Arteta’s men lose out on the possibility of winning a trophy.
