The eight-time Olympic gold medalist and world record holder captained a World XI celebrity team against an England side at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
Usain Bolt provides injury update
Bolt's dream of becoming a professional footballer was dealt a major blow when he ruptured his Achilles tendon during the match, which also featured Nigerian legend John Obi Mikel.
Barely a week after the incident, the 37-year-old Jamaican has now shared good news with his supporters, posting a picture from his hospital bed and writing:
"Surgery was successful."
Bolt's injury occurred as he chased down the ball, with the former sprinter going down and immediately grabbing his leg in agony.
The match was briefly stopped as medical staff rushed to attend to Bolt, who was then stretchered off the pitch.
Soccer Aid is an annual charity football match that raises money for UNICEF UK. This year's edition saw a World XI, led by Bolt, take on an England team that included the likes of Jermain Defoe and Theo Walcott.
While the legendary athlete's hopes of transitioning into professional football have suffered a significant setback, his fans will no doubt be relieved to see him on the road to recovery following the successful surgery.
