Super Eagles stars Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke showed that they are raring to go ahead of the 2025 AFCON

Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke were both on the scoresheet as Sevilla earned a comfortable 4-0 win over 10-man Real Oviedo.

The Super Eagles stars were joined on the scoresheet by Djibril Sow and Batista Mendy, whose goal was assisted by Adams as Sevilla climbed to eighth on the LaLiga table, four points off the European places.

Sevilla vs Real Oviedo: How it happened

Sevilla delivered a commanding performance to pile further misery on relegation-threatened Oviedo, sealing a convincing victory built around a dominant display from Akor Adams ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The hosts survived an early scare when Odysseas Vlachodimos denied Salomón Rondón with a fine save, but they responded immediately by taking the lead.

Lucien Agoumé slipped a precise through ball to Adams, who kept his composure to finish past Aarón Escandell.

The Super Eagles striker then turned provider midway through the first half, laying the ball off for Djibril Sow to curl home and double Sevilla’s advantage. Adams nearly added a second goal before the break, volleying over from a promising position as Sevilla remained firmly in control.

The hosts picked up where they left off after the restart, scoring again early in the second half. Adams claimed his second assist by flicking on for Batista Mendy, who showed neat footwork before finding the net.

Adams continued to torment the Oviedo defence, forcing Escandell into two smart saves to deny him a hat-trick. Oviedo’s frustrations boiled over late on when David Carmo was sent off, their seventh red card of the season.

Chidera Ejuke capped the rout with a superb solo goal in stoppage time, as Sevilla climbed into the top half while Oviedo extended their winless run to nine games and remained stuck in the relegation zone.
