Mikel Obi's agent offered me 76 million naira bribe to play at 2008 Olympics - Samson Siasia
Samson Siasia has claimed that Mikel Obi tried to buy Olympic spot with €50,000 offer
What Siasia said
The former Dream Team coach alleged that ex-Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi attempted to secure a place in the 2008 Olympic squad with a €50,000 offer through his agent.
In an interview with Elegbete TV, Siasia explained that Mikel, who was then struggling for regular game time at Chelsea, was invited to help the team during the final round of qualification but declined the call-up.
According to Siasia, that decision had consequences for Mikel’s Olympic hopes, as he decided not to call on the former Middlesbrough man. Siasia then claimed Mikel's agent offered him a bribe in an attempt to change his mind.
John Shittu responds legally
Shittu, who was Mikel's agent during this period, Siasia was alleging, had initially denied the claims. He has now doubled down, filing a legal demand, according to reports.
According to @OgaNlaMedia on X, Shittu formally denied Siasia’s claim through a letter dated and signed by his legal representatives. He also reportedly demanded that Siasia retract his claim and pay ₦250 million in damages.
