Lionel Messi has reportedly given Barcelona a 10-day ultimatum to decide if his return to the club is viable.

The 35-year-old is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season when his contract expires.

A sensational return to Barcelona is reportedly his preferred option; however, the Blaugrana have yet to table an offer, while the Saudi Professional Football League's Al-Hilal are said to have presented Messi with a bumper offer.

According to Relevo, the World Cup winner prefers a move back to the Catalan giants to the Saudi Arabia option; however, he wants his future resolved immediately.

The father of three is set to become a free agent this summer, and according to the report, he does not want to stay clubless for long.

Barcelona are also pushing for a return; however, their financial situation leaves them at the mercy of the LaLiga FFP regulations, and they have to present a feasibility plan to the league to complete the deal.

Barca making moves to bring in Messi

According to reports, the club needed to make €200 million in capital gains to be able to sign players normally.

The exits of Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba are reported to have brought down the requirement to slightly over €100 million; however, there is still some way to go.

The club have presented a plan to the league to assure that they can make it happen, and they are currently being heard. It remains to be seen if they will be given the go-ahead to complete the deal.

Meanwhile, Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has insisted that Lionel Messi’s potential return to the club depends 99% on the player.
