Real Madrid made light work of Real Sociedad to depose Barcelona in the LALIGA summit.

Vincius Jr was the star of the show, scoring a brace from the penalty spot, as Real Madrid thumped on-form Real Sociedad 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

A fast start from Los Blancos saw them strike first inside the opening minutes, and despite Mikel Oyarzabal briefly levelling from the penalty spot, Real Madrid’s attacking quality ultimately proved too much. Goals from Gonzalo García, Vinícius Júnior and Federico Valverde secured a comprehensive win for the hosts.

Key match details

Madrid wasted no time asserting themselves. In the 5th minute, Gonzalo García received a dangerous delivery from Trent Alexander-Arnold into space and steered a composed finish into the bottom left corner to open the scoring and put the hosts ahead early.

Real Sociedad responded with intensity and were rewarded in the 20th minute when Dean Huijsen was judged to have fouled Yangel Herrera in the box, earning Sociedad a penalty. Mikel Oyarzabal stepped up and converted coolly down the centre to make it 1–1, briefly shifting momentum

Real Madrid’s quality shone through soon after. In the 25th minute, a penalty was awarded when Vinícius Júnior was fouled inside the area by Jon Aramburu, and the Brazilian made no mistake from the spot to restore Real Madrid’s lead at 2–1.

Just six minutes later, Federico Valverde bent a superb right-footed strike into the top corner to extend the lead to 3–1, giving Los Blancos control going into the break.

After the interval, Real Madrid continued to press for more. In the 48th minute, another penalty was awarded when Aramburu fouled Vinicius again. The Brazil international stepped up with Mbappe an unused substitute and calmly dispatched his second spot-kick to make it 4–1 and effectively seal the victory.

From that point, Real Madrid managed the game with authority, limiting Sociedad’s chances and seeing out a comfortable win in front of a packed Bernabéu.
