Real Madrid bound Trent Alexander-Arnold gains over 300,000 followers after announcing exit from Liverpool
Trent Alexander-Arnold has officially confirmed that he will leave Liverpool when his contract expires on 30 June 2025, bringing to an end a two-decade love affair with the club he joined at just six years old.
The 26-year-old England international, who grew into one of the world’s most creative defenders, is on the brink of a new challenge, reportedly signing a six-year deal with Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Since his senior debut in 2016, Trent has made 352 appearances, scored 23 goals, and helped Liverpool secure eight major honours — including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and most recently, the 2024/25 Premier League title.
But it’s not just on the pitch where he's making waves.
While his departure announcement has been met with angry reactions, Trent’s Instagram following skyrocketed from 12.2 million to over 12.5 million in less than 24 hours.
The outgoing Liverpool star has gained more than 300,000 new followers and counting according to Social Blade.
I’ve achieved everything I’ve ever wanted here – Trent explains exit decision
In a moving message to fans, Alexander-Arnold laid bare the emotional toll behind his decision to leave:
“I think first and foremost, I want to say it’s not an easy decision, and there’s a lot of thought and feeling that has gone into it.”
He continued:
“I’ve been here 20 years now, loved every single minute of it, achieved all my dreams, achieved everything I’ve ever wanted to here.”
The decision, however, stems from a personal need for growth and change:
“Giving everything day in, day out for 20 years, I’ve got to a point now where I feel like I need a change, a new challenge for me as a player and as a person.”
Since making his senior debut for Liverpool in 2016, Trent Alexander-Arnold has carved out a legacy as one of the best right backs in the modern era of the Premier League.
Initially viewed as a promising academy graduate, the right-back quickly established himself as a first-team regular, rising to prominence under former coach Jürgen Klopp.
Over the course of nearly a decade, Trent has racked up an impressive 352 appearances across all competitions — a remarkable figure for a player still only 26 years old.
His consistency and durability became vital to Liverpool’s success during one of the club’s most dominant modern eras.
