What Obafemi Martins said about Messi vs Ronaldo
The former Inter striker was a guest on the Football Fans Tribe podcast, and as become almost customary in such interviews, he was asked to decide the greatest footballer of all time between Messi and Ronaldo.
Martins wasted no time picking Ronaldo. While he acknowledged Messi’s quality, he argued that the Portuguese had the edge because he played in England, Spain and Italy, compared to the Argentine who spent his prime years at Barcelona.
“I think I would choose Ronaldo,” Martins said. “I'm just talking from my experience. One, playing In so many teams going to countries different countries it's very, very difficult to do. This guy's machine, like, he's still playing and he's still scoring goals.
“For me, Messi is something else. I rate him more than anything else, you know, but playing in one team for long, long, long, long time like that, people want to see Messi playing in different team, like in Italy, and then the, you know, the, you know, fans can see from there.
“People just love Messi just for the fact that he's calm. Yeah they think he's not arrogan, but for a player, you still have to be arrogant.”
