Speaking on former teammate John Obi Mikel’s podcast, The Obi One Podcast, the Brazilian singled out Joao Pedro as the player who embodies Chelsea’s fighting spirit and attacking threat.

What Oscar said

Oscar, who played for Chelsea between 2012 and 2017, admitted he is impressed with the 22-year-old forward’s impact since arriving from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer.

“I think he is,” Oscar said when asked if Joao Pedro could lead Chelsea’s attack.

He continued, “He had already been in the Premier League before he joined Chelsea, so he knows how to score goals there. It’s difficult to score for the smaller teams in the Premier League, and he did it for Brighton.”

Oscar praised Pedro’s versatility and determination, pointing out that he offers more than just goals.

He added, “He’s strong. He can score with his head, with his feet. I like him. I think he’s a player who’s the face of Chelsea. He fights. I hope that he can keep going this way.”

Pedro hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge, scoring regularly in his early appearances. However, his form has cooled slightly in recent weeks, prompting questions about whether he can consistently shoulder Chelsea’s attacking burden.

Despite the dip, Oscar believes Pedro has the tools to become the club’s reference point in attack, something Chelsea has lacked in recent years since the departure of Diego Costa.
