Super Eagles travelled to Libya for their second-leg clash with the Mediterranean side in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
However, during the trip, the flight bearing the Super Eagles team and the NFF delegates was diverted to another destination.
The Libyan authorities detained the Nigerian Super Eagles at the airport, preventing them from reaching their intended destination.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has been in contact with CAF reporting the sad incident since yesterday evening.
There's no clarity or directive from CAF.
The NFF has submitted a detailed appeal to CAF.
The report claimed that there has been no reply from CAF as the team remains stranded at the Al Abaq airport in Al Abaq.
The Super Eagles and the NFF delegates have been at the airport for more than 15 hours without food.
The players also rejected the buses provided to them yesterday, which Boniface described as “Ibakasi” buses and remained at the airport.
