City Stars opened the season with a barren draw against Muhoroni Youth.

Nairobi City Stars head coach Nicholas Muyoti was elated after finally opening their account this season in their second match of the campaign following the 1-1 draw against Bidco United.

Simba wa Nairobi settled for a barren draw against Muhoroni Youth in their opening game of the season and were looking to bag their first goal against Bidco which came courtesy of Samuel Kapen.

Meanwhile, Muyoti believes that there are areas his team needs to work on in order to improve moving forward, but he was at least pleased his side scored their first goal of the season.

“I thank God and second I thank the players because we at least managed to score a goal,” Muyoti said.

“Yes we conceded but I was not happy about the first half. We made some easy mistakes, easy passing mistakes and it was not working well for us but in the second half, we made some changes which were more stable and we started attacking more.“I believe we have some areas we need to work on but so far so good.”

Simba wa Nairobi should arguably have had a penalty awarded in their favour after striker Kelvin Etemesi was brought down in the area in the 37th minute of the match, but the referee chose not to award it, leaving City Stars players aghast.

Muyoti admits he did not see if it was a penalty from the angle he was standing and needs to review the footage again.

“There was a penalty shout from my players. I cannot tell from the angle where I was but I think after the review we will know what it was,” Muyoti said.

“I will have to review and look at the clip again to assess the situation because, at times, there are moments as coaches we miss out and we also expect the referees to see but they also miss out on them but it is an area we will have to look and see if it was really a penalty.”

Nairobi City Stars will face Gor Mahia in their third game of the season on Friday 15th  September.
