FKFPL 'It was among our worst performances!' Bidco coach Anthony Akhulia slams charges after City Stars stalemate

Akhulia's team looked incoherent as they scrapped to a draw against Nairobi City Stars on Sunday.

Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia has slammed the performance his side displayed against Nairobi City Stars as both sides drew 1-1 in Sunday’s lone FKFPL encounter at the Kasarani Annex.

The Thika-based side went a goal down thanks to Samwel Kapen’s strike, but super sub Samwel Ndung’u restored parity midway through the second half, which was enough to salvage a point.

Akhulia believes his side played “very poorly”, criticising his team's display as “one of the worst” performances he has ever overseen.

“We played very poorly,” Akhulia said. “This is among our worst-played matches,” he added.

“On paper, it looked like a game we should have won easily but it was difficult to handle City Stars. They were the better side, especially in the first half.”

Akhulia shifted his approach from a 4-2-3-1 to a 3-5-2 formation after conceding, which played a key part in restoring parity for Bidco, something which gave the gaffer plenty to ponder about moving forward

“In fact, we even conceded when the second half started, but again, we had to change the structure and personnel and reverted to a 3-5-2 which gave us the goal.

“We need to work on it and see how we will approach the second half.”

Although Akhulia is happy his side finally registered their first goal of the season, he is very frustrated that they conceded.

“We at least got a goal. The worst thing is conceding. We conceded a lousy goal. We were very motivated in preseason, but when it comes to the league, it is a different ball game.”

Bidco will travel to Sudi Stadium to play their second game of the season against Nzoia Sugar after the international break.
