Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong celebrates 10 years with Nigeria’s national team, reflecting on his journey, leadership, and commitment to continue striving for excellence.

Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong recently marked a significant landmark, celebrating 10 years since his debut for Nigeria’s national team.

The milestone coincided with his leadership in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Russia on Friday, June 6, 2025, a match that showed his enduring influence on the team.

Taking to social media after the game, Troost-Ekong shared a heartfelt message reflecting on his journey.

“10 YEARS REPRESENTING 13.06.2015 - 06.06.2025,” he wrote, paying tribute to the late Stephen Keshi, the legendary coach who gave him his first chance to represent Nigeria in Kaduna a decade ago.

“I will never forget the ‘Big Boss’ Stephen Keshi for believing in me to make my debut in Kaduna that day a decade ago,” he added.

Over the past decade, Troost-Ekong has become a pillar of the Super Eagles, earning 79 caps and competing in five major international tournaments.
