Key match details

The opening exchanges were stiffly contested, but the hosts soon asserted their dominance. The Turkish side's front duo looked threatening from the outset, with Jhon Duran causing problems for the Feyenoord defence. Just before the half-hour mark, strike partner Youssef En-Nesyri thought he'd scored, only to be flagged for a marginal offside.

The Fenerbahçe defence had been largely untroubled, but Feyenoord caught them off guard just before halftime when Tsuyoshi Watanabe headed in Hwang In-beom's pinpoint delivery from a set piece. However, the visitors' lead was short-lived, as Fenerbahçe responded in just three minutes. A miskick from Anis Hadj Moussa led to a corner, which Archie Brown expertly headed home.

Fenerbahce went ahead in the game and levelled stunningly just before halftime when Duran latched onto En-Nesyri's pass and clinically slotted home, putting his side ahead on aggregate.

Fenerbahce steadily built momentum I the second half and soon got a third when Fred hammered home a stunning long-range strike, bending the ball into the top corner and putting his side ahead on aggregate.

Feyenoord's late surge was ultimately futile, and Fenerbahçe sealed the win with En-Nesyri tucking home Brown's low cross. Watanabe's late brace goal, a half-volley from the edge of the area, gave Feyenoord a glimmer of hope, but it was extinguished by Anderson Talisca's well-placed finish, which capped off the scoring.
