Super Falcons fan favourite Michelle Alozie has opened up on music preferences in a new interview.

The Nigeria international the first female footballer to ever front a cover for Deeds Magazine, the same platform that has featured high-profile cover stars like Power actor Michael Rainey Jr. and Dancehall queen Shenseea, amongst others.

Her groundbreaking feature first appeared as part of the magazine’s Sportlite series in June 2023, where she was celebrated for balancing a professional football career with her day job as a cancer research technician.

Alozie name drops her music faves

In the latest interview with Deeds Magazine, the 28-year-old was asked about her pre-match playlist and her top African artists.

When the interviewer noted that she had named Young Jonn, Burna Boy and Ayra Starr as her top three, with no place for Afrobeats giants Wizkid or Davido, Alozie didn’t flinch.

“I like what I like!” she declared. “Those three artists are always on my playlist, no matter the team. Lately, amapiano is taking over, especially UValo and Nakupenda. I’m also hooked on Llona and Fola. Davido and Wizkid are legends.”

The unfiltered moment perfectly captures the same fearless attitude that made Alozie a style icon and trailblazer.

Born in the United States to Nigerian parents, she has always embraced her dual identity without apology. “Being Nigerian American doesn’t make me better — it just defines me,” she told Deeds.
