Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has reacted after seeing some good things from new signing Mason Mount and other youngsters during the Red Devils' first preseason game.

After their first pre-season friendly against Leeds United, Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has reacted positively to the performances of his players.

United put on a show against rivals Leeds United following a 2-0 win in Oslo, Norway.

The Red Devils featured two different teams in either half, with a new signing from Chelsea Mason Mount playing his first game.

In what was a game that saw United feature some big names like Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, Mason Mount and Lisandro Martinez, who returned from injury, the youngsters shone brighter.

Noam Emeran proved to be the man of the match and star of the show after he came off the bench to score one and assist the other goal.

Emeran opened the scoring with a fine finish following brilliant work from fellow substitute Isak Hansen.

Ten Hag reacts to performances from Mount and youngsters

After the game, United manager Ten Hag was happy with what he saw and reserved special praise for some of the players.

On the youngsters, the former Ajax boss noted that he saw some good stuff from them.

Erik Ten Hag was happy with what he saw against Leeds.

“It’s the first game and I think we have seen some good things,” he said according to the United website. “We’ve already trained over the last year, so we have a good foundation. You can see that in the game.”

“But yeah, also some young lads came in and they fit in. We are now one week [into] training. We presented the rules and the principles. And what I see, what can I say: we have seen some good stuff.”

On the scorers

“They’re coming in and it's a big moment when you are coming up in the squad, in the first team. You deserve game time because over long years you work for it. And then that moment in a very good and nice stadium, with a good crowd, and in such ambience they're coming in and then score and win the game. That's very good and nice.”

Ten Hag also spoke about Mount and also had some good things to say about his summer signing from Chelsea.

“Oh [he was] great, but we could expect this. He has so many skills and I'm sure we will take so much joy from him,” he added. “He will contribute to our performance, absolutely.”
