The Red Devils are ready to step up their pursuit of Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen
Manchester United are going all in for Victor Osimhen, reportedly offering misfiring striker Rasmus Hojlund plus a hefty £33.5 million (₦59 billion) to tempt Napoli.
With Al-Hilal also circling, United know they’ll have to move fast if they want to land one of Europe's most lethal forwards.
Manchester United ready to swap Hojlund for Osimhen
Hojlund’s struggles at Old Trafford have been well-documented, with just three Premier League goals in 2025 and growing criticism from pundits like Roy Keane.
Now, Manchester United are trying to turn that flop into a bargaining chip. Transfer guru Matt Hargreaves has reportedly jetted to Italy to meet Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis and sporting director Giovanni Manna.
The Manchester United representative has reportedly offered Hojlund plus £33.5 million for Osimhen, who just wrapped up a dominant loan spell at Galatasaray with 36 goals and a league title.
Osimhen has been elite for years now, with 74 goals in the past three seasons across Italy and Turkey. Napoli, fresh off a Serie A title without him, might be ready to cash out, especially with Romelu Lukaku already in the squad.
Manchester United face Saudi Competition for Osimhen
Manchester United's biggest obstacle for Osimhen is not Napoli, or the Nigerian’s injury history, it is Saudi money.
Al-Hilal are deep in talks and reportedly have verbal approval from Osimhen, pending funds from the Saudi Ministry of Sports.
The deal on the table is staggering, worth £15 million per year over three seasons. Osimhen nearly joined Chelsea last summer and has been linked to Arsenal, Juventus, and Barcelona.
However, Manchester United hope their package, Premier League football, a fresh project, and top billing, can sway the Nigerian star away from the Middle East riches.
