That profligacy proved fatal as Manchester United regained control when substitute Mason Mount calmly slotted home from a Leny Yoro setup.
That goal opened the floodgates and Casemiro added another with a header from a Bruno Fernandes freekick before Rasmus Hojlund made it three.
Mount sealed the night in stoppage time with a long-range strike into an open net after a goalkeeper blunder. What looked like a nervy night turned into a dominant 4-1 win on the night for for the Red Devils, who will now face Tottenham in the final.
