According to reports, Manchester United and midfielder Sofyan Amrabat of Fiorentina are close to reaching an agreement.

The Red Devils have identified the Moroccan as an adequate backup to their midfield for next season and are currently negotiating a deal with Fiorentina.

Amrabat had an impressive campaign with Fiorentina last season and was instrumental for Morocco at the FIFA World Cup, helping them reach the semi-finals and finishing as the fourth-best team in the world.

Man United are currently looking to bolster their midfield options after recently acquiring Mason Mount from Chelsea and are reportedly edging closer to agreeing a deal with Fiorentina for Sofyan Amrabat.

The 26-year-old's transfer to United from Fiorentina is reportedly close to being agreed upon, according to Gazzetta.

Amrabat's signing would improve United's strengths in central and defensive midfield, and the team has already expressed interest in a number of potential replacements for him.

The Morrocan is eager to join Erik ten Hag's team, and the Italian team has accepted his departure and is making preparations to replace him, according to sources from Daily Mail.

Amrabat enjoyed a standout season for both his club and his nation after being a crucial part of Morocco's historic World Cup run in Qatar.

He also contributed to Fiorentina's success in the European Conference League, which they reached but lost to West Ham in the final in Prague last month.

With the addition of Mason Mount, who cost United £60 million and came from Chelsea, the midfield has already been reinforced.

However, they are looking to add more players for next season as they will be playing in four major tournaments.
