Cunha was substituted in the first half of the win against Burnley with a hamstring injury, while Mount did not return for the second half of the same match. Dalot withdrew from the Portugal squad during the international break with "muscle discomfort."

Speaking ahead of the derby at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, Amorim confirmed the trio are out, despite their efforts to be available.

"They are out for this game. I don’t know how long it’s going to take. We need these guys to be a competitive team," he said.

"We have very good players, who are eager to play, so we will be competitive on Sunday. But they are out. I don’t want to say how long they will be out for.

"If you talk to Cunha outside, he will say he can play this game. They are pushing really hard."

Cunha, Mount, and Dalot have been ever-present for Manchester United this season, featuring in all three of the club's Premier League games, and they will be a big miss against a Manchester City side looking to get back on track.
