Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman's move to Inter could depend on one of his former clubs

Ademola Lookman’s future is hanging on a delicate three-club chain reaction that could see him finally secure his desired move to Inter Milan.

The Nigeria international is determined to leave Atalanta this summer, but his path out of Bergamo appears tied to Fulham’s transfer dealings and the fate of several other strikers across Europe.

Domino effect in the transfer market

The situation has unfolded into a complex web involving Inter, Atalanta, and Fulham. Inter remain keen on Lookman, having seen a €45 million bid rejected earlier this month.

Atalanta, meanwhile, are chasing Fulham forward Rodrigo Muniz as a replacement for outgoing striker Mateo Retegui, who left for Al-Qadsiah in a €65 million deal.

Ademola Lookman checks in at Atalanta earlier last month but has handed in a transfer request.

Fulham, for their part, are lining up Iran international Mehdi Taremi from Inter if Muniz departs. With each club dependent on the other’s move, any breakdown in the chain could delay or even derail Lookman’s transfer.

The €50 million valuation Atalanta have placed on him remains a sticking point, but the interest from Inter and Lookman’s desire to join them is not in question.

Lookman holding out for Inter move

Lookman, currently training individually in the UK, has made it clear he has no intention of returning to Atalanta’s first-team setup.

His stance comes after spending several years in Bergamo, where he emerged as one of Serie A’s standout attackers.

Atalanta’s CEO Luca Percassi is also in the UK, though reports suggest his focus is solely on finding a replacement striker rather than negotiating Lookman’s exit.

Fulham’s €45 million asking price for Muniz adds another layer of complexity, but if the London club agree terms with Atalanta and sign Taremi from Inter, the pathway for Lookman’s move could finally be cleared.

Until then, the Nigerian’s future remains in limbo, waiting for the transfer dominoes to fall.
