Lookman shows class as Lazio hold Atalanta to a draw despite Dele Bashiru’s masterclass
The visitors headed into the game unbeaten in their last five games in the Serie A and were looking to extend their run.
For the first time this season, Ademola Lookman was facing his countryman Dele Bashiru in the league.
However, both players had to share the spoil after contributing to the goals scored by their teams.
As it happened
Just as expected, Super Eagles star Lookman continued in attack for Atalanta, but this time he was paired with De Ketelaere in a double pivot.
On the other hand, Lookman’s countryman Dele Bashiru led Lazio’s midfield and played the attacking role.
Lazio started the game brightly and their effort in attack was rewarded in the 27th minute with a beautiful move.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru was put through on goal by Nicolo Rovella and the Nigerian fired a brilliant volley past the goalkeeper into the net.
Atalanta were close to losing the game but left it late in the 88th minute to secure a draw. Lookman’s cross into the path of Marco Brescianini was headed home into an empty net to rescue Atalanta.
Atalanta held on until the final whistle and secured an important one point in the race for the Serie A title.
