Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold may be disciplined for violating Premier League regulations

The Football Association may take strong action against Trent Alexander-Arnold for his admission that he purposefully celebrated his goal against Manchester City over the weekend in front of furious home fans.

Liverpool played a 1-1 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad, with both teams dropping two points at the weekend.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring for City making him the fastest player to reach his 50th Premier League goal.

However, In the 80th minute, the vice-captain of Liverpool scored from close range to share the spoil at the Etihad Stadium.

Alexander-Arnold’s celebration

Alexander-Arnold raised his finger to his lips to celebrate the goal In front of the Manchester City fans at the Etihad Stadium. 

After the game, Alexander-Arnold acknowledged that he appreciated the response from the City supporters after his celebration.

He said as reported by the Mirror, “It’s always good to celebrate in front of away fans. Seeing all of the faces is really funny.”

Referee Chris Kavanagh did not book Alexander-Arnold that day, and as a result, he may not have mentioned it in his post-match report.

However, the FA could still intervene based on the  IFAB's Law 12 states that a player “must be cautioned” for “gesturing or acting in a provocative, derisory or inflammatory way”. 

Alexander-Arnold might just receive a warning about his behaviour going forward, even though the FA might decide to take action after he avoided a booking for his celebration.
