Liverpool identify Salah replacement after recent rant
Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, as they view the France international as an ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah, whose Liverpool future recently became uncertain.
The Salah problem
Salah’s shocking public outburst after being left out of Liverpool’s starting XI for the trip to Elland Road last night has triggered speculation around his future at Anfield.
As Pulse Sports reported, he told a Norwegian outlet that he felt “thrown under the bus” and hinted he might not be at Liverpool after the upcoming Brighton game, adding that he has “no relationship” with manager Arne Slot.
Salah signed a short-term extension in April, tying him to Liverpool until 2027, but his form this season has dipped, with 5 goals and 3 assists in 19 appearances across all competitions, leading to speculations that he is past his best and Slot's decision to keep him on the bench for three consecutive league matches.
Liverpool’s Barcola interest
According to Goal, that uncertainty is one reason Liverpool have been linked with PSG winger Bradley Barcola as a long-term Salah alternative.
Barcola joined PSG for €45m in the summer of 2023 and has helped the club to major honours, including last season's treble.
He is contracted through 2028 and has reportedly stalled on a new extension, as PSG have been trying to extend his deal until 2030. The Parisiens are said to be offering a significant pay rise, but Barcola is unsure of his future at the club, as he is subject to rotation in the PSG frontline.
