A Chelsea fan on social media has asked Nigerians to forgive Lauren James for stamping Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie during their Round of 16 games.

James, a Chelsea star, launched an attack on Super Falcons defender Alozie and stamped her with her boot while she was still on the floor.

The England star was issued a yellow card at first but after the VAR review, the referee decided that her action was deserving of a red card.

Lauren James visited her social media accounts after the game and disabled the comments feature after the incident gained widespread attention.

Chelsea fans plead with Nigerians

A Chelsea fan replied to an article shared by Pulse Sports about Lauren James deactivating the comment section on her social media account.

They begged and apologized on her behalf and asked Nigerians to forgive the star player, insisting she was still young and lacked experience.

Timothy Odugbemi commented under the post saying, "Pls forgive her, she's only 21 yrs old, she's just a talented young lady, saddled with a gr8 responsibility.

"She has added another experience to her career today, though I don't support her mistake, as a Chelsea follower I plead on her behalf."
