According to reports from French sports daily L'Equipe, the development comes as the iconic jersey becomes vacant following the departure of Luka Modric, who had worn it since 2017.

According to the report, the decision to bestow the No. 10 upon Mbappe was made by the club, rather than being a request from the French international himself.

This move makes logical sense, given Mbappe's long-standing association with the No. 10 for the France National Team, where he also serves as captain.

The No. 10 shirt at Real Madrid carries immense historical weight, having been donned by legendary figures such as Ferenc Puskas, Luis Figo, Mesut Özil, James Rodriguez, and most recently, the esteemed Luka Modric.

For the first time since James Rodriguez's loan departure in 2017, the number has been available for a new custodian.
