"It was crucial to start with a win" - Mbappe reflects on first victory of the season

The Spanish giants secured a 1-0 victory over Osasuna in the opening round of the Spanish La Liga.

Mbappé secured the three points with a penalty kick early in the second half after he was fouled in the box.

Speaking after the game, Mbappe shared his joy at seeing Real Madrid claim their first win of the new 2025/2026 season.

"It was very important for us to start the season with a home win. We knew it wouldn't be easy. Osasuna had a clear game plan and were waiting for us to make a mistake.

"In the first half, we had no space, but in the second, we quickly found a way to score. We had more opportunities and controlled the game better.

"Nevertheless, we are happy with the win and are looking forward. I feel great, but the main thing is to help the team. In attack, in defence, and the rest will follow," Mbappé said, as quoted by "Marca", via Sportal.

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso also concurred with Mbappé's comment and has expressed his delight following his team's narrow victory in their first La Liga game of the season.
