Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze will have to wait until at least next week for his Fulham debut, as he was not named in the squad that beat Leeds United earlier today.

The 26-year-old joined the Cottagers on deadline day and immediately went on international break with the Super Eagles. The Premier League clash against Leeds provided the first opportunity for his debut, but he was not included in the squad.

Fulham's head coach, Marco Silva, was quizzed on why he dropped Chukwueze on what could have been his debut, and he said that the Super Eagles star was not fully acclimatised with the squad.

"It was impossible for Chukwueze to start; probably, he doesn't know all his teammates' names,” he said, per Jack Kelly. “He had two days of training after arriving on the last day and off to play for his country."

The Cottagers went on to win the game thanks to a late own goal from Gabriel Gudmundsson and a brilliant defensive performance from Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey.
