I'm learning — Chelsea's Maresca admits blunder after Man United red card
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has admitted that he made mistakes in their past two Premier League matches against Manchester United and Brighton. However, he believes he has now learnt from his decisions.
Maresca's mistakes
The Italian tactician came under heavy criticism for the substitution decisions he made after Robert Sanchez was sent off early against the Red Devils.
He took off his wing presence in Estevao and Pedro Neto, and shortly after, was forced to remove Cole Palmer, who sustained an injury. Chelsea lost the match 2-1.
The Blues got reduced to ten men for a second consecutive Premier League game when they faced Brighton. In the clash against the Seagulls, they lost their one-goal lead and were beaten 3-1 after the red card to Trevor Chalobah.
What Maresca said
Clearly, his team have shown an incapability to cope with numerical inferiority and Maresca takes responsibility, stating that he was learning from their mistakes.
“After reviewing last two games, Man United and Brighton, I could have done better probably in terms of decisions, no doubt,” Maresca said, per Fabrizio. “For me, it's like a learning process to play with 10 players. It's not something normal.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea will be in Champions League action on Tuesdays against Benfica. Maresca will line his team up against Chelsea's former coach, Jose Mourinho.
