Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta opens up about his disappointment on losing the league title to Manchester City.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed the degree of hurt he felt after his team lost the Premier League title to Manchester City despite leading for most of the season.

The Gunners are in a renaissance under the Spanish manager, and last season they came close to lifting their first league title since 2004, 17 years ago; however, they eventually ceded the summit to Pep Guardiola’s team.

What Mikel Arteta said

The 41-year-old was speaking ahead of Chelsea’s clash in the Premier League this weekend when he discussed the missed opportunity from the previous season.

Arteta admitted that he takes losses hardly, and he was incredibly disappointed to not have ended up as Premier League champions after being so close. He also blamed himself for Arsenal falling short but said he believes he is the right person to lead the team to success.

“I'm a terrible loser. I was really disappointed not to win the title when we had a big chance to do it,” he said, per Fabrizio Romano.

“I put the blame on me and I had to think if I'm still the right person to take the club to a different level.”

Meanwhile, according to reports, Arsenal failed to sign Jude Bellingham because they refused to add a little cash to his transfer fee.

Jude Bellingham was a target for Arsenal when he was still in the Under 14 level and was competing with Manchester United for his services.

The England international completed his move to Spanish giants Real Madrid last summer for a €103 million transfer fee.

However, it has been revealed that Arsenal failed to add some cash to the required transfer fee for Bellingham a few years ago.
