I'd love to see him at Man Utd - Andy Cole believes Donnarumma should rival Onana
Manchester United legend Andy Cole has urged his former club to make a move for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, suggesting the Italian would be the perfect rival to current No.1 Andre Onana.
Speculation around United’s goalkeeping department has grown after Altay Bayindir’s costly error handed Arsenal a 1-0 win at Old Trafford.
With Onana facing mounting pressure after a turbulent first season, some fans and pundits believe Ruben Amorim could benefit from greater competition between the posts.
Cole, who won five Premier League titles and the Champions League during his spell at Old Trafford, told Esportsinsider.com he is surprised Donnarumma has not been more celebrated at PSG.
“Donnarumma is a top goalkeeper, and I'm very surprised that he's in the position he's ended up in at PSG. His performances have been unbelievable and I'd love to see him at Manchester United, of course I would.
"If United do get back in the Champions League, then maybe they could tempt him. He’s one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He’d be perfect for United," he said.
Manchester United have 11 days to finalise transfer deals before the September 1 deadline.
